And I Thought Lenny’s Music was Crap

Lenny Kravitz owns a $13 million Manhattan penthouse with one malfunctioning toilet. Neighbor Joel Disend paid $2.84 million for his apartment below, and he discovered on August 1, 2004 that water does indeed run downhill, when Kravitz’ compromised commode overflowed and caused “catastrophic water damage” to Mr. Disend’s abode.

Amica Mutual Insurance Company paid Mr. Disend $333,848.77 for the damage. On October 20, 2004, as subrogor for Mr. Disend, Amica filed a lawsuit in New York Supreme Court alleging that Mr. Kravitz must pay it this princely sum along with costs. Specifically, in Amica’s complaint in Amica Mutual Insurance Co. v. Kravitz, No. 04-114905 (N.Y. Sup. Ct, County of New York, Oct. 20, 2004), the insurer contends that the water damage “was caused solely by the negligence and carelessness of the defendant in the ownership, occupation, use, maintenance and repair of his premises including but not limited to allowing a commode to become blocked, clogged and congested with various materials.” Eeeww.

I am no fan of Mr. Kravitz’ music, but (no pun intended) I surmise that Mr. Disend is not pleased with Lenny’s latest output.
